New Federal Cabinet welcomed by AFPA but focus on National Forest Industries Plan needed

The Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA) congratulates the newly announced Federal Cabinet and Ministry and looks forward to working with the new team for the benefit of our sustainable forest industries, CEO of AFPA, Mr Ross Hampton said today.

“We congratulate new Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources David Littleproud and pay tribute to former Minister Barnaby Joyce who moves to Infrastructure. We also welcome John McVeigh as Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government and Bridget McKenzie as Minister for Sport, Regional Health and Regional Communications.

“AFPA will work with Minister Littleproud and other Ministers with regional responsibilities on the National Forest Industries Plan. It is essential this plan is well developed in consultation with industry to fully grasp the significant opportunities.

“We congratulate Member for Wannon Dan Tehan on his elevation as Minister for Social Services and of course look forward to a continued strong relationship with Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources Anne Ruston. We look forward to working with Michaelia Cash on jobs, industry and manufacturing and thank Arthur Sinodinos and Darren Chester for their service in the Industry and Infrastructure portfolios.

“AFPA will endeavour to meet with key members of the new Cabinet and Ministry very soon. Our sustainable forest industries rely on good relationships with these key decision makers in government and our National Plan remains our primary focus,” Mr Hampton concluded.
