Forest industries thank Senator Colbeck for his significant contribution to public policy

The Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA) celebrates the significant positive contribution made by Senator the Hon Richard Colbeck during his tenure in the Australian Parliament.

Chairman of AFPA Mr Greg McCormack said, “We thank Senator Colbeck for his energy and strong support for Australia’s forest industries while in Parliament. He played an influential role in developing positive forest policy and initiatives which reinforced Australia’s reputation as a global leader in sustainable forest management and producer of renewable forest products. He travelled and spoke extensively to industry around Australia and was always willing to listen,”

“He is a man with a long and passionate interest in the forestry sector. He was determined to assist our industry to realise its significant potential and find its place in a renewable, sustainable and low carbon 21st century Australia. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours,” said Mr McCormack.

Senator Colbeck held many important roles in Parliament. Most recently, he was the Minister for Tourism and International Education, and the Minister Assisting the Minister for Trade and Investment. Previously, he was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture from September 2013 to September 2015 and from October 2004 to January 2006, with responsibility for Forestry. Additionally, he was the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry from September 2008 to September 2010 and the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries and Forestry from September 2010 to September 2013.
