Forest industries leaders recognised for contribution in Queen’s Birthday Honours list

The Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA) congratulates both Michelle Lauder and Ron Adams as award recipients in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours list, Chief Executive Officer of AFPA, Mr Ross Hampton said today.

Michelle Lauder has been awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) ‘for outstanding public service to natural resource management and forest policy development and implementation’, while Ron Adams has been made a Member (AM) in the General Division Order of Australia ‘for significant service to the forest and wood products industry’.

“On behalf of AFPA and Australia’s wider forest industries, I congratulate both Michelle and Ron on their award achievements in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for 2019,” Mr Hampton said.

“Michelle is an excellent public servant with a wealth of knowledge and experience working to improve public policy for forest industries, and is a fantastic conduit between government and industry.

“Ron has been a servant of Australia’s forest industries for more than 50 years, including in leadership roles with Wespine and Bunnings Forest Products. Ron is currently a member of the Forest Industry Advisory Council (FIAC), a former Chairman of Forest and Wood Products Australia (FWPA) and former member of the AFPA Board.

“Australia’s forest industries are lucky to have contributors like Michelle and Ron, as well as many more high achieving individuals across the sector. As long as our industries are well led and have great people working in them, they will continue to succeed and thrive,” Mr Hampton concluded.
