Stokes to be new voice for South Australia forest industries

MEDIA RELEASE

The national peak body for forest, wood and paper products, the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA), has today announced the appointment of John Stokes as its new South Australian Manager.

Previously the CEO for Master Builders SA, Mr Stokes brings extensive experience in policy development and advocacy that will continue to develop AFPA’s state based presence and further the interests of the forest industries in South Australia (SA).

AFPA Chief Executive Officer Mr Ross Hampton said, “AFPA is delighted to welcome John to the team.  John will build on the excellent work undertaken by outgoing SA Manager, Mrs Clare Scriven, and enable AFPA SA to continue to provide a united advocacy voice for almost 7,000 direct and 15,000 indirect employees working in the forest, wood and paper products industry in SA.”

“The South Australian industry generates more than $1.5 billion each year, so it is essential that the state based industries across the value chain not only have a dedicated voice but also that through their Association, they can actively participate in strategies and initiatives that affect the growth of the industry and therefore the creation of regional jobs.”

Mr Hampton said, “John will be based in Adelaide and will keep in regular contact with members of the Government and Opposition as well as other elected members and independents. He will also devote a considerable amount of time in the heart of the SA industry – Mount Gambier and the Green Triangle region.”
