AFPA delivers sustainable Christmas trees and some Christmas cheer to Parliament House!

Today, the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA) will deliver two sustainably sourced real Christmas trees to Parliament House to remind our MPs and Senators of the importance of Australia’s forest industries and how they help the environment, CEO of AFPA, Mr Ross Hampton, said today.

“As people are getting ready to put their Christmas trees up across the country, everyone should seriously consider the benefits of a real Christmas tree,” Mr Hampton said.

“Not only are real Christmas trees authentic, provide a truly traditional feel and smell great, they’re also better for the environment as they’re renewable and recyclable. After Christmas, real trees can be recycled in the council garden waste bin to become mulch for the community.

“Real Christmas trees also remind us all to support the 120,000 Australians who work across the full value chain of our sustainable forest industries right around Australia.

“Of the two real Christmas trees to be delivered this morning, one will be placed on the House of Representatives side of Parliament House, with the other to be placed on the Senate side.

“I encourage any members of parliament who care about rural and regional jobs and support our forest industries to come and get a picture or video with a real Christmas tree,” Mr Hampton concluded.
